RE: AR:Breaking Dormancy

Walter, Here in the Panhandle we had a wet spring and a dry summer. Around
13" for the year so far. Some of the half and higher AB's did not go
completely dormant here this year and are starting to show increase now, as
well as some that went dormant. We usually get a little summer rain as you
probably remember but not much this year. The increases that are starting up
are looking very nice and abundant which bodes well for next year! :)

Like clockwork, no matter what kind of summer they've had, each
year at the this time half and higher arilbreds that had gone
dormant pop up like daff foliage in the spring.  One day there is
nothing, but the next day there are tips of foliage showing..  The
last week in August the arilbreds break their dormancy.  Is this a
harbinger of fall?  Is it happening elsewhere where arilbreds grow
or just in my garden?

Since the rain gauge at the nearby Enid dam has already recorded
over 55 inches of rainfall this year (5 inches last week), I was afraid
of casualties with the arilbreds because it has been so humid here
all summer without a break.  I am happy to see foliage behind each
marker, and rows of seedlings are all up now.  No arilbred has
rotted - even in this swamp.  Welcome back, arilbred buddies!
