Re: CULT: Nebraska summer rot resistance?

I was just about convinced that rot was not too much of a worry
here, until last week that is. I did have a few that rotted earlier-
notably every clump of Debrenee and most every Coral Chalice. At
least it was just the center, the increases were fine.

But I walked out yesterday and Lip Service was that sickish yellow
color and the fan looked like the neighbor's dog had mowed it down.
I checked further after I noticed signs of rot on Fort Bragg too.
The one that floored me was one of the Rosalie Figges I planted in
July was severly damaged too.

I don't think that I have the heart to practice tough love on the
ones I can see every day, but the ones in the field are certainly on
their own. Actually early in the season I was convinced that all of
the Best Bets were rotting. I dug one up to try and save it. (Of
course, all of the others recovered on their own, the only one that
died was the one I babied.

Once I get increases, I will be certain to put some new ones to the
test. I did get quite a few new introductions this year, so next
year I can report to you how they did.
