seed planting

Hello,
Based on the past discussion on iris seed pods, and the success some of you
have had growing them, I thought I would try some. I got about 11 pods this
year --8 gave me enough seeds from themselves to keep separate, with one more
dixie cup of a few each from the other three.
The seeds are all dry now. Do I plant them now in their own little pots? Or
do they have to be cold for a while in the fridge?
I plan to get a hanging light to keep plants over winter in the basement with
a timer. Will iris respond to this as well, especially the new seeds?
About how long will the plants start to show?
Thanks!
Heidi in Iowa
