1. I like smaller-flowered irises 

2. MTB clumps don't take up as much room as  larger bearded
irises

3. They are consistent having good bloom every year (in my
climate)

4. They, along with Siberians, are great for flower arrangements

5. Even the historic MTBs can give the newbies a run for the 
money

6. They clump well here and bloom in spite of my neglect!
