Posting this reply to the list, in hopes of getting others interested in being a HIPS display garden:
The coordinator for the HIPS display gardens is Laetitia Munro (lmmunro@hotmail.com). She's very nice - we were roommates at the AIS convention in Fresno this year. As far as I know the only requirement is that the garden contain at least 15 named historic iris. A list of the display gardens is distributed to HIPS members annually. Contact Laetitia and she can send you a sign-up form.
We're a display garden too...

Hi all,
Does anyone know who is in charge of information on display gardens recognized by HIPS. I would like to find out requirements to be listed. The Rio Grande Botanic Garden is getting quite a lot of oldies now, and most will be in public displays very soon (one planting already is). My impression is that the list through HIPS is just an informal listing of gardens displaying old Iris, with no "official" recognition???
Actually same question regarding AIS. I have never seen any information as to whether AIS even lists display gardens anywhere. Many horticultural societies do, and I'd like to learn more if possible.
Thanks,
Dave
