Brought this over from iris photos-Braggadocio. 
 
I have a personal bias against open standards, but even so I find some  
acceptable.  My real problem is FLOPPY open standards that either cave  inward 
after a couple of hours or splay out and lay on the falls.  
 
I'm noticing some irises with standards that are a great deal shorter than  
the falls.  This can create a look that is totally out of balance.  I  notice 
it more on bi-colored patterns.
