Re: Are you an iris fan, fancier or fanatic?

Weddings:

You are an iris fan when you decide irises would look nice in your wedding flowers. You are an iris fancier when you are disappointed you don't get to see a new iris purchase in bloom for the first time because you are leaving for your honeymoon. You are an iris fanatic when you tell your new husband you will need to live apart from him for some weeks following the honeymoon because he will be in a different location to your irises.

Family:

You are an iris fan when you name your daughter "Iris" because you think it is a pretty flower. You are an iris fancier when you do NOT name your daughter "Iris" because it would make household conversations too confusing. You are an iris fanatic when your family planning involves the kids not being born too close to spring because you don't want to lose a year out of your hybridizing program.

You are an iris fan when you tell your kids not to pick blooms off iris stalks in the garden. You are an iris fancier when you try and persuade your kids to help you weed the garden. You are an iris fanatic when you teach your kids to hybridize irises in the hope of starting a new hybridizing dynasty.

Clubs:

You are an iris fan when you go to your local iris club's annual shows, without becoming a club member.
You are an iris fancier when you attend every club meeting.
You are an iris fanatic when you hold one (or several) club committee positions, but are concerned that doesn't leave enough time for your other iris activities.

Houses:

You are an iris fan when you are pleased the house you want to buy has some old irises in the garden. You are an iris fancier when an essential requirement of a new house is that the garden have large sunny areas in which to plant your iris collection. You are an iris fanatic when the most essential requirement of a new house is that it have acres of land attached for your iris seedlings.
