Iris Fanatic?
Hi folks, I will add my bit .....
You are an iris fanatic when you spend the week before elective gall bladder
surgery, making sure that all the irises have been limed.
You take your antibiotics and eat healthily, and get lots of rest as
instructed, so that you might recover more quickly in order to be healthy
and back in the garden in time for iris season. meanwhile you catch up and
try and get ahead with all those paperwork jobs that just require sitting,
so they are out of the way before the irises start blooming.
Your favourite floral gift in hospital is the photo your husband took (under
instruction) of the I. histrio that is blooming at home where you can't see
it (in the pot you brought up to the house to ensure your husband could find
it to take the photo.)
Your first venture into the garden is to visit your iris seedlings, which
have germinated like crazy since the last visit.
You spend your recouperation time planning your crosses, and checking to see
if you can bend without hurting yet, trying to decide how soon you will be
back in the garden - not lifting, just pulling weeds and checking the
irises.
Your housekeeper who is supposed to be doing all the inside jobs that you
can't manage yet, is outside in the iris patch pulling weeds, between rain
showers, and under sufference.
You are very pleased that your surgery has fallen at this time of year, so
as not to interfere too much with iris duties.
Your husband is now trained to find iris blooms in the garden and take
photos :-)
