Donna, if you pick 4 or 5 that look very similar to you, maybe we can point out some of the differences for you. If they are ones some of us have grown or seen in person somewhere.
I am still learning to really process everything that I see in a bloom. Loic has posted some nice photos that show the entire standard and fall of a bloom, as well as the intact bloom. Those photos clearly show some of the variability in color and pattern on the falls and standards
If you have the good fortune to be in a part of Washington where most irises thrive, the differences in growth habit probably won't be something you would notice, so the genetic makeup wouldn't matter to you unless you are hybridizing.
But the differences in flower production (bud count), how long the individual blooms last, how good the substance is etc. might matter a lot, depending on whether you are an iris fan, fancier, or fanatic <g>.
