Re: Would you all help select everbloomers

>To the General Iris Interest Group,

I have two questions: Does anyone have experience concerning the list of
repeat bloomers listed below, and would they relate their experience? Has
anyone bought with Nicholl's Gardens? I spoke with a lady on the phone and
she seemed very nice.
I am new to iris gardening so even basic information would help. I live on
a coast plain about 8 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The weather seldom gets
below 35 F and does not freeze most years. Also during the summer, maybe 15
or 20 days exceed 90F. Plants that need a lot of chilling, more than 300
hours below 40F, or heat during the summer, do not do well. I don't know
what that means to iris culture. I planted some iris from the building
supply store in a bed of half clay and half compost. The irises seem to be
doing well. They are growing strongly and not rotting. One is blooming
now. I kept reading about reblooming iris in this groups posting and wanted
them. A net search picked up Nicholl's Nursery in Virginia,
(HTTP://www.he.net/~ngardens/). The pages overwhelmed me with the amount of
choices, and so I write for your help. My criteria gave precedence to
everblooming, fragrant, and bi-color especially with edges or other marking.
I don't know if I should be worried about varietal plant vigor especially as
it applies to my growing area.
