About 4 years ago I bought a pkg. of seed for I. setosa 'Blue
Lights", and several of the seeds germinated. Because I let them get
too dry at one point, I managed to save only a few plants, but those
were planted outside in late spring (I started them indoors) and made
it through 2 winters but didn't bloom. I moved them to an area where
they got more sun, and they began to thrive but didn't bloom. This
season I had bloom for the first time, and this summer the plants
have really expanded and begun to make a little clump. It's a
dainty, delicate flower, doesn't last long, but beautiful. I did
make sure I mulched the first winter outdoors, but otherwise they got
no special treatment.
