When the late Henry Mitchell was growing irises in Tennessee in the 40's he
used lots of fertilizer...the real stuff. But he loved the irises from the
40's and 50's (Didn't like modern ones the same way.) He once asked me to
help him locate STAR SHINE (Wills 49), which I did...and he grew it until he
died. Never heard of STAR SHINE rotting. And just for Linda...it's a native
