When I said that rebloom was too late for Virginia, I was speaking of a
specific iris...not all rebloomers. Here in the Washington, DC area we have
the 2d longest running fall show in the US (actually the world). We have
been having a fall iris show since the early 1980's...the only organization
that has been having a fall show every year for a longer period than our
local (Chesapeake and Potomac Iris Society) is our own Region 4 of the
American Iris Society...but the regional fall show is not in one area...it is
held in whatever city is hosting the fall regional meeting. I tell you this
because if many irises did not rebloom in northern Virginia we surely could
not have a fall show.

I don't know exactly where you are in PA, but there are reblooming irises
that will rebloom for you. When I was at the fall regional meeting of Region
2, held in Syracuse, NY, the room was decorated with numerous iris bloom
stalks blooming in NY in Sept/Oct. For starters, try these irises: QUEEN
DOROTHY (bred by Earl Hall from Ohio), CORN HARVEST, IMMORTALITY, AUTUMN
BUGLER (bred by Frank Jones in NY), and LADY EMMA (registered as a miniature
tall bearded but performing here like an intermediated bearde iris). Oh yes,
try the yellow dwarf BABY BLESSED. These may not bloom in the fall for you
every year, but you will have some rebloom most likely. They rebloom here in
northern VA every year. Clarence Mahan in VA
