Re: electors

Bill writes

:If a particular West Coast iris does
:not do well on the East Coast or Central, oops almost said coast <grin> those
:judges don't have the opportunity to vote AGAINST that iris. Instead, they
:vote for other irises, which in effect, splits their potential voting power.
:NOW, if they all voted FOR one particular iris then they could sway the next
:Dykes Medal Winner. OR if they had the power to vote AGAINST an iris,
:then they
:could greatly affect the DM winner! It's not how you count the votes, but all
:in the distribution.

My suggestion of a few days back regarding using an _average rating_
rather than a _vote total_ would also address this problem.

I'm surprised my comments did not attract attention. I thought this
bunch was more uppity than that. ;)

Cheers, Tom.
