I do think Bill Smoot has a valid point when he mentions that a membership
application may be construed as a contract. The current color brochures
(invitations to join AIS) were printed some time well before the current board
rulings about calendar year memberships and therefore do not contain any wording
about the calendar year basis. We are fast running out of these color
invitations and they will have to be reprinted soon. Certainly the calendar
year will be mentioned on the new invitations. However, it is very difficult to
get the local societies/affiliates to DESTROY all the old invitations they have
on hand. I am still getting applications at the $12.50 rate and once in a
while, even the $9.50 rate. Savers we are! Marilyn
