Thanks Mike - I lost my notes, but it certainly is a distinctive iris and I
knew I'd be able to id it again sooner or later.  It is the other parent of
my earlier successful I. pallida cross.   Someone asked a while ago about
seedling numbering systems - so far, mine is pretty simple.  S1 - seedling #
1.

I have not seen another modern iris with that intensity of color - SULTRY
MOOD is maybe close in shade, but not as bright.  Maybe it's the rusty
shoulders and bright beard that intensify the color, or maybe it has some
other physical difference in the surface of the petals.  Certainly nothing as
tough as this one.
