Well, somebody has to be rich enough to try all those new introductions.
Then again, how could they be rich after they spend all their money on iris?
Speaking of new intros, I don't remember hearing much in the way of reports
on newer introductions of tall bearded iris ('93, '94, '95) and how they did
this year - not so much what they looked like but how they grew and bloomed
in comparison to ... hmm... maybe compared to VANITY and EDITH WOLFORD (to
pick two award winning extremes in growth). If VANITY is a 10 and EDITH is a
1 or 2 (it is actually a zero in my garden)....Of course I am talking about
growing these things in the high rainfall, high humidity, sudden freeze zone.
I managed to snag RAKU BLAZE and some other recent stuff at our club
'auction' last week - we have so much money in the treasury, we decide to
draw lots and give them away. We had a club order from Aitken plus increases
from club orders over the last few years plus any newer stuff we thought
other club members might like. What a haul.
