Hello All,
I went to help out at the Missouri Botanical Garden today and while I was
there I asked one of the horticulturalists about Donald's mystery plant. He
looked at it and said it was one of the Sisyrinchium, common name being
blue-eyed grass. Which is still a Iridaceae. Sisyrinchium has about 75
recoginized species according to Hortus III. Donald said they had many
green flowers; the three species that I could find that had greenish flowers
were: bernudiana - green w/white edge; californicum - dull green and
striatum - greenish yellow. This plant grows something like crabgrass, not
in frequency but in method. Donald, you were right it is a pink rizome and
not a stoloniferous root after all.
I hope this helps you narrow down your search.
