Please, I am seeking info about the profitability or availability of
growing FLORENTINE IRIS - ORRIS (Iris germanica).
Once grown, is it sellable?
How does it's growth differ from growing "flowering" irises?
Where might one find less-expensive rhizomes?
Is it profitable to tissue-culture this or other irises?

Nichols Garden Nursery** in Albany, Oregon lists:

=FLORENTINE IRIS - ORRIS Iris germanica 2' An early blooming species iris,
=white flowering with a bluish cast and yellow beard. The violet scented
=orris root of perfumery and commerce is the dried rhizome of the
=Florentine Iris. Because the rhizomes become rock hard when dry we
=recommend shredding or chopping when freshly dug. As drying occurs,
=the sweet fragrance is revealed. An excellent potpourri fixative.
=Fall shipment only each rhizome $6.00
