CULT: OT: clorox - chemistry, horse's mouth

I have been intrigued by the Clorox questions and curious about the mode
of action on bacteria, fungi, etc, chemistry thereof, and how the stuff
is made, so decided to call the toll free consumer info number on the
bottle, just for fun, to see what they might say. I learned that Clorox
is 5.25% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and 4.12% sodium chloride (NaCl).
That seemed to use up the total knowledge of the guy who answered the
phone, but he has promised to 'research the question' and mail me some
information. He seemed delighted that somebody had found another good
use for their product.

Wishing I'd kept that 30 yr old freshman chemistry book.
