Hi,
I asked,
<< Anybody know anything interesting about a bearded iris called VAN NAME
from
>1928?
>I have no idea who grew it, nor have I heard of the cultivar or
>the hybridizer, also called Van Name.>>
To which Mike Lowe replied,
<< It absolutely does not show on the radar. I thought it may have been one
of
the items which did not survive the cut from the 1929 'Check List' to the
1939 'Check List.' >>
Sorry, Mike, to have sent you chasing a wild aquatic fowl. My mistake, for
which I apologize. The iris is VAN CLEVE, by Van Name, of 1928.
Anybody know the plant? Does it have a story?
I very much appreciate the lesson on the Checklist, though. That was really
interesting and I had not heard it before.
