I remembered that I had some of these Speedball painters, so I pulled them
out to make some labels with my new mini-blind markers. I noticed that the
marker is labeled as certified by the Arts and Crafts Materials Institute
as being nontoxic. I don't know if we can assume it is nontoxic to plants,
but I would guess that it is safe for use on iris fans. However, I
wouldn't won't to risk ruining the paint marker tip by getting it wet with
juice from newly cut fans of irises.
