Mark,
In the spring you can see the tiny beige larval forms of the borer
inching up the leaves. Then discolored spots appear followed by the holes.
They aren't always on the edge first. I followed the migration on one fan
for awhile and the notched edges came later. The leaf became more hollow as
the little bugger munched its way down. At this point I found the spray
insecticide, thanks to you all, and started spraying all my iris at home.
Rick said to spary again in late fall as well. Is this after the leaves die
back, Rick?
