CULT: Dog attack

I returned from two weeks vacation to find newly planted TBs AMBER TAMBOUR,
GINGER SWIRL and ROSETTE WINE yellow as cornhusks and with slimy foliage
down to the base of the fan. These had been deeply dormant starts when I
set them out, after a soak in tepid water. Little Rock received ample rain
while I was gone, and other similarly planted starts are growing well.

All around the "dead" plants were dog feces and a strong odor of urine. I
could see no evidence of any root growth.

My questions: Should I cut off the ruined fan and give the rhizome another
shot, or does your experience suggest they're lost? Does anyone know an
effective dog repellant I could spray on the rock border of my garden? I
have some bottled bobcat urine. Would that work?
