Ellen asked:
<< Does anyone know who sells EDINA? This is the purported TB
that was crossed with I. tectorum to result in PALTEC,
isn't it? Ever since I received PALTEC and I. tectorum this summer
from a list member, I have been looking for EDINA. No luck. :(
Too late for me to plant this season but next year I have hope of
finding one piece of EDINA in '98. >>
I trust Mike will correct me if I err, but I think obtaining this could be a
problem for a time yet. EDINA (Lemon, 1840) is a rare iris, long thought
lost, which was identified through the collective efforts of several
prominent members of HIPS in 1994. Mike found it on a rural ramble and for
several years worked to figure out what it was. It was offerred for sale once
that I am aware of in one of Clarence Mahan's catalogs, but I, personally,
have not seen it since. The Lowe's stated intent, however, was to grow this
rarity for increase and distribute it to insure its preservation. I am
confident that it will be available in time.
