Nope, Nancy, you didn't miss a thing: that's the reference I meant, on
pg. 223 in Vol. I of the large-format "Perennials" book. And you're
correct, it does read "like a white form of..." & doesn't, per se, ID
the photo as actually being of a white FLIGHT OF BUTTERFLIES.
These are indeed very handsome, useful books & I particularly like the
photos of plants in situ rather than only of those glossily prepped for
studio shots. It can be very annoying when photographers shoot *just*
the flowers & the inquiring gardener is left wondering as to what the
the foliage is like & wishing for some real concept of the plant's
blooming size, especially in relation to other plants.
ANNER: I will be on the lookout for these 2 volumes & others in the
series when I prowl my favorite used book stores, junk shops & garage
sales, as well as watching ads for the discount houses. Altho the mass
weight of books in this house is approaching overload & may soon shove
the house right off the cliff it's built on, a truly addicted reader
cannot pass up a desirable "find" unless physically restrained by a
non-reader -- & I would never go shopping with one of those. There was a
truly expensive 3-year period in the mid-80's when *both* my kids worked
at the Tattered Cover (the best bookstore in Colo, possibly the US) --
the entire family nearly went broke.
