Hi Ryan! I'm glad to know that there's someone younger than me on the list
(I've just turned 21 and I've recently joined the list too.) It sounds like
you've got a better-rounded collection than me, and are doing more
hybridizing though.
I'm jealous of your access to Winterberry Gardens. I haven't actually been
to an Iris nursery yet, as I've been purchasing by mail order. I would
really like to go to one, though. Maybe this year...
Anyway, welcome!
Ann Pearce
Hi also to Rusty! I've just read your welcome letter to Ryan, and I
apologize for not realizing before that there was already someone younger
than me on the list. For some reason, I assumed that you were middle-aged
(I think it was the mention of heart surgery). Anyway, I apologize most
whole-heartedly. I also sympathize with your loss of the one cross that
worked. One of the 3 crosses that I did correctly last spring (my first
ever) was accidently broken off the stem by some council workers who were
lopping branches off the tree overhead. It was too far from being ripe to
salvage, so I was quite upset.
It sounds like the three of us might have quite a lot in common!
