Since siberians take a couple of years to establish themselves-it has been a
practice to take a slice out of old clump, like a pie, plant the slice and
get it growing and then take the old clump out and toss or share with friends
/the auction. That way you don't miss the bloom for a year or two-might be
your favorite. Certainly in some AIS convention gardens siberians haven't
been planted deep enough. They need to be planted 3" deep and some feel
maybe deeper in hotter climates. Their rhizomes just don't have the storage
of TBs. Their roots must be kept wet during transplanting and untilk growth
is evident. Yes, borers will get in siberians and you will not see slime but
just a yellowing center leaf-they eat the bloomstalk-same thing/spurias. Anna
