I ordered mine really late.  In fact, I think I may have sent my order
to Sutton's at the end of July.  Both were after our rhizome sale which
was early July.  If it makes you feel any better, the Stockton rhizomes
weren't washed (had itty dirt balls on some of the roots) and some of
them looked pretty chewed up.  They are out having a super soak in
clorox, something I have never done to an incoming order before.  Both
boxes came thru the post office, so you may be right about them cooking
in a truck for several weeks.  Occasionally, being a tortoise is ok.
