The following is a non-scientific observation. You might want to
employ the use of your delete key at this time because some of the
information might be boring and maybe even offensive, but my report is
simply observation, and I am not 'slamming' anybody.
Four orders from leading iris sources arrived about the same time
and were potted in 4" pots filled with a mixture of potting soil and
garden soil. The roots were all shaved, the potting soil watered, and the
rhizomes pushed into the pot with the upper half of of the rhizomes
exposed. Seventy-five cultivars are involved.
After watching them grow in the shade, I am ranking them 1 to 4,
with 1 being the top award for growth. The growth observation of each
individual plant concerns the sending up a new central leaf and the
increase buds showing signs of growth. This is how they rank from four
iris distributors.
