regional differences

I have been following the discussion of North vs. South. As someone
who has lived in both, I find this sort of amusing. However humorous this
is to many, I am afraid that it may get offensive to some. This may sound
a little odd coming from a place that Jeff Foxworthy would be proud of.
Two things that those of us in the United States should remember:
(1.) We all live in the same Nation. (2.) Those members of the Iris-L
who live outside of the United States probably have no idea of what this is
all about and probably could care less.
This does not mean that pride in one's home town is bad, it is not.
Also, there is nothing wrong with using local names or influences in naming
Irises or any other flowers. I have done this myself.
As for plant names I find offensive, it is those with an occultic
flavor or that mid 1970's Ben Hager introduction... However, I truly
respect the opinion of those who feel otherwise.
