Ann,
Here in Kentucky, there are several types of Bees, Wasps, and Flies
all of which can pollinate an Iris. Bee pods are fairly common here in
most years. However, during the last two bloom seasons, there were few
pods because either the nearly constant rain washed off the pollen or it
was too cold for the insects to fly. Bee pods are most common (here) on
Iris pseudacorus and Louisiana Irises, but are found on all types. Again,
this may be partly the result of the weather.
