Re: JI: September bloom in Zone 3a

	Don't cancel your reservations, Rima....:)

I wasn't clear - this is *not* a rebloom, this is a regular
bud and bloom. In other words, 'Raspberry Gem' is a late bloomer for
me. It always blooms with my tiger lilies in August and they just
started last week. The 'Gem', as I call it, did bloom nicely starting
on July 27th and I noted in my plant book that, "this is exactly 14
days ahead of its '96 bloom". I thought it might rebel later on. :)

Now, I noticed this bud on the left side of the plant and it sort of
just stayed there not developing for a long time....even after the
other bloomstalks were finished. It wasn't through, that is for sure.

I don't think this could be considered rebloom...it was formed during
the first bloom....the checklist says this JI is a M-L bloomer....

It was hybridized by our own Anna Mae Miller and she can answer this
question far better than I can. Of course, I do not live in a 'normal'
climate...that is probably the only explanation anyone can give...
altho' last year 'Little Snowman' was also blooming in Sept......

I'll gladly take any iris bloom any time.

	Ellen
