What you have observed is the result of changes in the AIS awards system
that became effective in 1993. Prior to that year there was a
Williamson-White AWARD that was considered equivalent to the Award of Merit
(AM) in other classes of iris. Rosemary's Dream won this Award in 1986. In
1993 the Williamson-White MEDAL was presented for the first time, and
Awards of Merit were instituted for MTBs. In 1994 Rosemary's Dream won the
W-W Medal.

To recapitulate, prior to 1993 there was a two-tier awards system for MTBs:
HM and W-W AWARD; since 1993 there has been a three-tier system: HM, AM,
W-W MEDAL. Since the Medal is a higher level of recognition than the Award,
Rosemary's Dream became eligible to receive both, and was not honored at
the same level twice.
