The most charitable explanation I've heard is a case of mistaken identity=

Regeliocyclus are rhizatomous, but in their fully dormant state they look=
more like bulbs than TB rhizomes. There are also similarities in cultura=
l
requirements. The RCs are, however, more photogenic.
Although this COULD explain the original mix-up, it certainly doesn't
explain why the confusion has persisted for over 20 years.....
