I understand there are several Spanish Iris under the heading of
Xiphium. There is a particular one, even listed in the 1939 Check List,
that my Mom grew that I'm looking for; it's called GOLDEN LION (Byvoet
1927). 26", Standards lemon yellow, falls golden yellow, ruffled falls,
and there's a color picture of it in a 1945 J. R. McLean Daffodil
catalog (Elma, WA) I have of hers. Used to sell for 85 cents a dozen!
(Sorry to say it's the only old flower catalog I have from her. Wish she
had kept her catalogs...) CAJANUS (1896) and KING OF THE BLUES (prob.
Wms 1937) are the other two Spanish iris they list.
