Ah!!! Now that was one of my questions. Yes, I was referring to the
aphylla hybrids of Hager and the Craigs. They are several generations
away from aphylla species so was thinking that germination should be
pretty good (like TB X TB crosses). But I was not sure because I am
relatively new to this aphylla thing and not quite sure how the 48 chr.
factor of aphylla affects a cross with tetraploid TBs.

By the way, I am thinking that aphylla is a 48 chr. diploid species (48
chr. occurring naturally) and TBs are tetraploid ( 24 chr. doubled). Am
I thinking correctly here? I can't find anything about this in World of
Iris. Not that I would understand the information if I found it in the
first place.

Anyway, thanks for the information....it means I cannot plant as many
crosses if I can expect good germination......Thanks all.
