As the roots are insufficient to anchor my irises against the onslaught
of my cats, I tend to use stones for anchorage. I shall certainly try
cutting the roots off. I have some dwarf iris ordered from Barry Blyth's
1/2 price sale. They are probably fairly dry by now. I shall cut the
roots, soak them in fish emulsion and pot them in 8" pots, stabilised by
a stone. I'll let you know how quickly these establish, using this
method.
My dwarf irises seem to 'disappear' in the garden when not in bloom, so
I may put more of them in pots in future.
