Joyce's comments about the very unusual year generating a reblooming
paradise applies very much to the region just to the north. I am amazed
to have Iris aphylla blooming at this time. It has been six weeks in
flower after about a two month gap since blooming in spring. I also
have Iris lacustris in bloom which I am sure is a rare occurance for
this threatened species.
