Welcome to Iris Talk. You should be able to grow many types of Irises
in North Carolina. I moved to Florida last fall, and am trying to grow
some Irises here.

>Right now I'm just getting my new beds established. Some of the older
irises I have planted >include Silver Shadow, Lady Serena, Shell (pink),
Carolina Gold, Mill's Valley, and Paisano. I >have ordered a number of
newer irises and can't wait for them to come. I can hardly wait for >next
spring.

There are several other members of this list that are interested in
the older Irises. Are you a member of AIS? There is a section devoted
entirely to historic (30 or more years old) Irises.
You might wish to join it.
