	 As Pat Brooks said today:

Do you have any names on these 'biversatas' or 'versatas'? I just
planted two today from Tony Huber of Montreal. BELLE PROMESSE and
ENFANT PRODIGE. They both have ORIENTAL TOUCH (a versata =
versicolor sdlg. X purple ensata sdlg.) as their pod parent making
them half-siblings altho' they both have different chromosome counts
	- ENFANT PRODIGE has more ensata heritage. All of the named Huber
Spec. X (I think) are in the Japanese checklist...and of course,
the main checklists. The two I mentioned were registered in 1993.

First thing is to SOAK the roots in water before planting...they
should be treated like the other beardless irises and shouldn't
have dry roots before planting. 24 - 48 hrs. should be sufficient.

I planted them as I would a Japanese iris or a versicolor. Give
them plenty of water for at least the first month and mulch....
	I use pine needles.

This is my first time with the versata/biversata irises so I
	am experimenting as well, Christy.

	Good luck,

	Ellen
