There was a thread on this a while back Becky, but I know how hard it
can be to find things in the archives.
Some suggestions made were:
Stones (or pot plants) between your plants to stop cats digging.
fences around your beds. preferably with loose wire, that they don't
like climbing.
Cat repellant sprays.
A dog is a good deterrent, although some dogs only chase cats away when
their owner is watching. You also have the problem of training the dog
to stay out of your iris beds - not easy. My dog obligingly exits the
garden beds when she sees me coming!
