I'm not really sure but maybe the reason the new intros are sent out as
freebies is that they don't sell as well, because of the price, so they are
left with lots of extra ones. I know that with Schreiner's (this happened to
me this year), I was in love with 3 of the new intros. I didn't order them
because I know that next year the price will be much less on most of them. My
order was huge and I asked, when I placed it, if I could request one of the
new ones as a freebie. They said they would make note of that and that I would
probably get it. When my order came, I not only got the one I asked for but I
also got the other 2 that I was drooling over, as well as 3 other new intros!
I was thrilled to death! But...in all fairness, I did order about 125 plants
from them this year.
I, personally, love to get free plants. Makes opening the box kind of
exciting! I will keep ordering from Schreiner's, and freebies are a big reason
why. Not that I have space to put them all but because that act, on their
part, makes me feel that they value my business. And in most cases that's all
it takes to make a repeat customer of anyone.
