I quit my job as a Computer Programmer earlier this year to start up a
small business doing garden maintenance and selling plants. The garden
maintenance is only to keep me going until I get the plants side of it up
and running (and I finish my horticulture degree). I want to end up with a
nursery specialising in rare bulbs and irises. I love both of these things
and find it most satisfying to be able to meet and talk to people about them.

My motivation was that I wanted to actually enjoy "going to work" each day,
rather than physically feeling ill walking up the stairs to my office
(which happenend a few times there towards the end).

Walking away from a $35,000 plus job to a rather uncertain income means I
have to be pretty comfortable with the nursery idea.

(And of course it has been a record wet winter this year which means I
haven't been able to do much garden mainteneance either. My bank balance
does NOT thank me)

Anyhow, that's my reason for getting into the business. I hope no-one's
too bored.

Cheers. Paul Tyerman
