Hey Dennis,
You are welcome to come visit the Northwest in the spring. You can learn
all about our slugs. Many grow to 5-6 in. in length. I can not begin to
count the number of first year bloom that we never saw because the slugs
ate the stalk and/or the buds. We live in a micro climate where we
receive about 36-38in. precepitation per year. We have trees on three
sides and a creek in the rear of our <2 acres. I have even found slugs
on leaves in our dwarf apple tree.
We do daily early morning patrols with spray bottles of ammonia water
just so we can see our seedlings bloom each spring. Still cannot keep
ahead of those darn slugs.
