Hi All,
I have had Vicki's PCN seeds soaking for 3 days, and have just
transplanted them to jiffy pots which are sitting on my studio
windowsill (a cat free zone of the house). I grew some like this last
year, succesfully. I will move them to pots as soon as the roots come
through the bottom of the jiffy pot, and they will then go outside. The
beauty of this method is that you transplant them without disturbing
them, just put the jiffy pot straight into the soil.
The main problem with peat pots is watering. I had to be very careful
with the last lot, to just prevent drying out, and not cause rot. I
found that using a dripper was most effective.
Because we have verandahs, our windows do not receive sufficient light
for growing seedlings for any length of time. They tend to grow thin and
straggly.
I think I will try christy's method for growing my siberian seedlings on
to a larger stage in small pots.
Cheers, Jan Clark
