Why not cover the new areawith a small hole size chicken wire weighted down with large rocks--then dig the rows or furrows deeper to carry the water off--this way the rhizomes will still be there--with maybe stuff on top--and you won't have to replant them after Bonnie is gone
We might have snow and ice here and slippery roads, but think I would not like to be in tornado area--Carryl in Western Montana--where we are leaving today to head to Oregon for the National Dahlia show--me to judge and view gardens--my husband to try to find some new fishing holes in that area--be back in a couple weeks
