Last year we won several TB and siberian door prizes in late September
(after first frost) and we couldn't resist a couple of Willot SDB
introductions either.
We bought some sterile mix (not really necessary, we were potting other
stuff as well) and put the iris in pots, then into a compost heap
(leaves only).
They all survived the great ice storm of '98; actually it was rather a
mild winter for these parts. Unfortunately, the Willot introductions
all met up with Roger being jolly one day in May...with the usual
results.
So, any potting problems encountered should not be due to temperature.
On a completely separate note, wrt spelling, don't forget I.versicolor
is spelt as shown, there is no 'British' version. My spellchecker has
been modified accordingly.
