I would suspect that the aphids originated in their source gardens in
Denver. Here in California and I would suspect other areas as well,
rhizomes that stay out of the ground for extended periods of time will
become infested with aphids. Your soak should do the trick. Burn and
destroy if you will but save the rhizomes!
