Thanks Nyla. I tried starting some fresh seeds a couple of years ago
and none germinated. I think Walter Moores has tried this with no
success as well, so I wonder if there is something about our several
zones warmer climate that makes this jump start not work here.
So that leaves me with ripened seeds that need stratification to
germinate. I'm not quite ready to donate my refrigerator/freezer to the
cause, but it might come to that eventually. Maybe set up an old one in
the shed that I haven't built yet <g>.
By nature, I'm much happier digging in the dirt in the great outdoors,
so, like the recent sources of the fascinating discussion of plicata et
al patterns, I do this for fun, & if I wind up carting things in and out
of the fridge, that isn't fun for me. [If it were, all those
interesting fuzzy growths wouldn't be inside the fridge now <g>].
Any of you who stratify your seeds outdoors over the winter have any
suggestions for speeding up seedlings?
Thanks
